Anne Hritzay is a former architect who studied at UC Berkeley and MIT. She was a paraprofessional at Island Park Elementary for 5 years, supporting learning in the classroom and teaching many art lessons to first graders. She has taught afterschool art club for 3 years and has also provided Artist in Residence activities for Island Park students. She is also a practicing artist, specializing in encaustic and photography.
As a community art facilitator, she worked with the entire Island Park community to create a mural consisting of artwork by every student and staff member which now hangs in the entrance hall of the school as well as yearly community Veteran's Day art projects, and set design for the fifth grade play. The students love seeing their individual work come together to make a more beautiful whole as a group, just as our community comes together collectively to be even stronger through our individuality and diversity.
